Thornbeck College

Thornbeck College is an Independent Specialist College providing personalised programmes to autistic and neurodivergent individuals

Working together to inspire, support, celebrate and equip autistic and neurodivergent people to fulfil their potential in life.

On Monday 28th March Thornbeck hosted a Safeguarding Workshop for the parents/carers of learners attending the college.

The workshop provided an opportunity to share key safeguarding information including:

  • The college safeguarding policies
  • Staff training
  • The Designated Safeguarding leads
  • The process the college follows in relation to reporting, recording, and managing safeguarding concerns
  • The college annual safeguarding plan which identifies how safeguarding topics are delivered to learners as part of the college curriculum

The workshop also provided opportunities for parents/carers to have a tour of the curriculum environment and  meet with their son/daughters key tutor to discuss their progress. Parent/carers were able to ask any further questions and network with one another.

It was great to see so many parent/carers on site again following the easing of government restrictions.

We also received some positive feedback from parents:

It has been very informative. Also, great to see what he has achieved at college and to speak to his tutor.
Very helpful.
Nice to know that he is happy at college.
Nice to have face to face communication.
