The college leadership team identified a range of learner job roles as part of learner voice. During a learner council meeting the upcoming job vacancies were introduced and learners were provided with information in relation to applying for any roles of interest. Job adverts were displayed around the college, requiring learners to submit their CV to the leadership team. Following receipt of the CV’s, letters were sent to the learner home address inviting them for interview and Interviews were conducted. Will, the successful candidate was able to answer a range of questions during interview including: What skills do you have relevant to the Fire Officer role? What training or qualifications do you have relevant to the Fire Officer role? What does safeguarding mean to you? What would you do if you thought there was a fire at college? Will has now been appointed as the Thornbeck Fire Officer and is supporting the completion of weekly fire alarm tests, risk assessing the college for potential risks and ensuring all fire exits are safe and clutter free. Will is also looking forward to completing termly practice fire evacuations. Congratulation and well done Will!
