Celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

On 6th February 2022, Her Majesty the Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, events and initiatives will take place throughout the year, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June.

On Friday 27^th May learners at college participated in a range of activities to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee prior to the half term holidays. Celebrations involved:

A ‘dress down’ day wearing red, white or blue clothing
Decorating the college in range of Union Jack and patriotic decorations
Participating in a range of traditional lawn games
Enjoying an English anthem themed karaoke
A buffet lunch

Learners had a fantastic afternoon celebrating with their peers. Celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee has supported the learners to increase their understanding of British Values.

Meet our new Fire Officer

Learning about drugs and alcohol

Learners have increased their knowledge and understanding in relation to drugs and alcohol, which has had positive impact on their health and wellbeing.
Police Workshop

Representatives from Durham Constabulary visited the college to deliver two sessions relating to bullying and knife crime.

The theme this year the theme was loneliness, the impact of loneliness on mental health and the practical steps that can be taken to address it.
