Our pupils worked together, listening to each other's ideas and concluded that they wanted to go for a walk with the staff and test their fitness levels. The pupils continued walking for four miles enjoying the scenery and each other's company. After the walk, the pupils went to a cafe and chose a drink or an ice cream, embedding maths, and communication targets. In addition, the pupils enjoyed interacting with each other in the park where they had fun together on the play park equipment. Throughout the experience, pupils embedded preparing for adulthood targets such as being able to engage in an activity, have an awareness of road safety, to initiate play or interaction with peers and to access areas in the local community with support.
