Working together to inspire, support, celebrate and equip autistic and neurodiverse people to fulfil their potential in life.

We carried out a debate in English to write a balanced argument on the topic: Should children get paid to go to school?

To prepare for the debate, we were given a side of the argument to research. During this, we gathered points and evidence to support our argument.

When we moved onto the debate, we constructed the rules as a class. We understood the importance of taking turns to speak as well as listening to peers.

During the debate, we realised how effective this was as listening to peers allowed us to continue discussing the topics in more depth and gather more understanding of how both sides of the argument would affect children and the economy in future. The debate was a success as we were able to write a detailed argument on the topic.
