Mental Health Activities

As part of mental health week Ashley from class 6 made stress balls using balloons and cornflour. We made a lot of mess but it was worth it.

Exploring the natural world is brilliant for our mental health. The guys in class 6 went to Errington woods to do some bird and animal watching. This tied in really well to our science topic on habitats.

Class 6 had a really good discussion around the things that affect our mental health. We talked about and made lists of the positive and negative things that we experience.

Busy week for class 5

Pupils at Mackenzie Thorpe Centre had an induction session at the local gym and went shopping for ingredients for a cookery lesson.
Bluebell Walk

Some of Mackenzie Thorpe Centre's classes went off on a walk around the bluebell woods at Roseberry Topping. Learners enjoyed identifying different plants and flowers and even did a bit of birdwatching.
Ryedale Visit

Some of the classes from Mackenzie Thorpe Centre went on a visit to Ryedale Folk Museum. They took part in activities related to The Tudors including exploring the crofters cottage.
Power Station Visit

Mackenzie Thorpe's class 5 visited EDF Energy power plant in Hartlepool. The learners had a fascinating time learning how energy is generated to power our homes. They even got to go on a tour of the plant and found out about the various roles.
Outdoor Education Assembly

Students at Mackenzie Thorpe Centre learnt about the benefits of outdoor education including creativity, adventure, mental health and developing fitness. They also made pictures out of twigs and paint using crushed raspberries!
Celebrating Coronation

From making crowns and afternoon tea to decorating every classroom with red blue and white... Mackenzie Thorpe students went all out for the King's Coronation celebrations!

Easter Fayre

Pupils and visitors had an egg-cellent time at Mackenzie Thorpe Centre's Easter Fayre, with fresh farm produce and home-made crafts.
