'Growing the power and potential of a neurodiverse workforce'

Where are you from?

I grew up in North Tyneside and now live in Northumberland.

What is your role at Diversity NE?

Employment Specialist.

How long have you worked for NEAS?

I joined the North East Autism Society in April 2023 and began working on the DiversityNE programme.

What is your career background?

I spent many years working in catering and hospitality before I decided to study counselling, going on to complete a Foundation Degree in Counselling Skills and qualifying as an Integrative Counsellor at Northumberland College. Through practicing in counselling I found many of my clients were neurodivergent which led me to explore which services were available to the neurodivergent community.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The support that the programme and the whole team brings, in helping people toward an independent life.

Why did you want to be involved with Diversity NE?

I wanted to help people, whether diagnosed or not, to access practical assistance in overcoming barriers and to achieve their goals in life.
