Aycliffe School is an independent, purpose-built specialist school based at the North East Centre for Autism, Newton Aycliffe in County Durham for pupils aged 3-19

Working together to inspire, support, celebrate and equip autistic and neurodiverse people to fulfil their potential in life.

Art gallery at Aycliffe

Class 5 celebrated the end of their Art Topic by showcasing an art gallery to families, staff, and students at Aycliffe School.

The students visited local art galleries and outdoor exhibitions during Community Inclusion time and then planned the event as part of their Employment work.

The exhibitions included work from across many different subjects including History, Geography, RE, Art and Maths. We also included a café and shop to fundraise for NEAS as part of Autism Acceptance week and asked people to share what autism means to them.

Railway Walk

To celebrate World Autism Acceptance Week, pupils from Aycliffe School took part in a project involving a walk along a 2.5 mile long railway path from Shildon Locomotive museum to Newton Aycliffe train station.
Author Visit

For World Book Day this year, Aycliffe School welcomed Nicola Wood- the author of Compost The Cat- who engaged in team games, and encouraged creativity and friendliness.
