Is it truly their choice if someone else says ‘pick between these two things I’ve decided to offer you’? In this talk we explore autistic communication and the steps we’ve taken to help empower our young people to truly make their own choices. About the presenter Lee joined the North East Autism Society in 2007 as a support worker and since has worked in a variety of management roles throughout Children's and Adult's Residential Services. Lee qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2017 and worked within the NHS as an Acute Medical Nurse before being drawn back to the Society. Lee currently works at our North East Centre for Autism site, at Cedar House in Newton Aycliffe. Lee is passionate about providing outstanding, person-centred care and support for autistic individuals and promoting their independence and voice to ensure that they have a say in all aspects of their lives.
