Lucy Sinclair won the first ever Mackenzie Thorpe award, which honours creative and innovative thinking in supporting children, young people or adults.

Lucy teaches at Mackenzie Thorpe Centre and gets to know each of her pupil's interests so she can work them into her personalised lesson plans. One pupil loves Apple products, which she links to in her lessons, while another enjoys making items out of cardboard which she works into sessions.

Principal Tracey Train said: "Lucy is also very musical, and she uses music to engage pupils, to support emotional regulation and to promote confidence."
