Aycliffe School

Aycliffe School is an independent, purpose-built specialist school based at the North East Centre for Autism, Newton Aycliffe in County Durham for pupils aged 3-19

Working together to inspire, support, celebrate and equip autistic and neurodiverse people to fulfil their potential in life.

Staff and pupils at Aycliffe School focused upon all aspects of health in an activity day to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

Activities were supported by some of our Class 6 pupils leading as part of their PSHE unit.

Following a successful bid by the NEAS fundraising team, Aycliffe School acquired a range of bikes accessible for all pupils in the school. Some of our pupils had great fun trying them out for the first time!

Across the school and grounds we had activity sessions including kick-rounders and a bubble party. More relaxing activities were a sensory walk, yoga and mindfulness colouring.

We would like to thank the nurses who came in to support our young people by promoting healthy diets and overall mental health.

To top it all off Class 5 had made some healthy smoothie ice-pops.

It was great fun!
