A North-east golf club has made a generous pledge to the North East Autism Society.

Members of Wearside Golf Club came together over the past year to raise an impressive total of £1,528.00 in support of our services, after club captain Steve Belchamber selected us to be his Captain's Charity for 2021.

Steve said he selected NEAS as it was a cause close to his heart, as his granddaughter was recently diagnosed as autistic.

The amount was handed over to Fundraising Officer Jon Appleton in a cheque presentation at the club, which is based in Coxgreen, Sunderland.

Jon said: "We are so grateful to the members of Wearside Golf Club for their generous donation, particularly after what has been a really difficult year.

"It's an incredible amount to have raised and it will make such a difference to the individuals who access our services."
