Thornbeck College

Thornbeck College is an Independent Specialist College providing personalised programmes to autistic and neurodivergent individuals

Working together to inspire, support, celebrate and equip autistic and neurodivergent people to fulfil their potential in life.

Thornbeck College welcomed parents and carers on Wednesday, December 13th, for its much-anticipated annual Christmas market. This vibrant event was a testament to the dedication and involvement of our learners in planning, preparing, and executing an array of activities to create a memorable experience for all attendees.

Key highlights of learner involvement included:

  • Designing a poster to advertise/invite parents/carers
  • Making a range of handmade products across their Vocational sessions to be sold including wooden reindeers, wreaths, candles, soap, Christmas cards and mugs.
  • Planning alternative stalls such as a raffle and tombola
  • Working on market stalls serving customers and dealing with payments and orders

Participation in this event has been instrumental in fostering the development of essential skills among our learners. Through their involvement, learners have enhanced their functional, communication, and employability skills. Moreover, the opportunity to showcase their work to parents and carers has profoundly impacted their sense of achievement and well-being.

The Christmas market not only celebrated the festive season but also served as a platform for learners to demonstrate their abilities and talents to a supportive audience, enhancing their confidence and pride in their accomplishments.
