As part of tutorials learners have developed their knowledge and understanding of financial abuse. Learners participated in a range of tasks and activities which supported them to:

• Increase their understanding of what financial abuse means and what it may look like
• Develop an understanding of how to safeguard themselves from financial abuse
• Develop an awareness of opening a bank account including setting up a third party authority
• Identify how protect their money, e.g. storing money in bank accounts, pin protection when using a card, checking websites are legitimate when purchasing online and the importance of budgeting
• Identify how to deal with money being stolen
• Identify scam emails and how they protect themselves when confronted not just by emails but also phone messages asking for personal and financial details. 

Supporting learners to develop their understanding of financial abuse and how to protect themselves has also supported the development of their independent living skills.
