Enzo, Darcy, Dylan and Jay donned their hats and celebrated in style.

They’ve been attending our weekly toddler groups which have helped them explore and develop new skills. Their now off to school so we hosted a mini-graduation to celebrate all they’ve accomplished during their time with us.

Kerrie Highcock, family development manager, said: “It has been lovely getting to know the children over time and watching them grow and develop.

I have many happy memories with the children. For example, Jay turn taking for the first time, Darcy singing, Dylan playing ball and Enzo using his PECS cards. We have had so much fun and done so many different activities together. From making chocolate pizza, to playing with polar bears in the fake snow, singing nursery rhymes together and getting messy during arty activities.

“As well as getting to know all of the children, it has been a real pleasure getting to know the parents.”

Dylan has been attending the Stanley toddler group for over three years and was one of the first toddlers to join the group. He has developed in all areas of learning, particularly around communication and independence.

Dylan’s Mum, Lisa, said: “Dylan has come on so much and toddler group has been like our second home. We have really looked forward to our Friday afternoons and shall really miss them as Dylan starts school. We will definitely be back in the holiday. I want to say a massive thank you for being there for us through good days and bad.”

The toddler groups are a FREE service for parents / carers of children with autism. The overall aim is to provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can try a variety of new experiences in a relaxed, none judgemental, environment. We also aim to support parents to gain a better understand of their child and learn new strategies to support them.

We look forward to welcoming more toddlers to the group in the future.
