Thornhill Park School

Thornhill Park School is an independent specialist school based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear for pupils aged 4-19

Our mission is to work together inspiring, supporting, celebrating and equipping autistic and neurodiverse children, young people and adults.

This term class 1 have been learning about 'Who are the Ancient Egyptians?'.

Class 1 were introduced to this topic with a sensory story on a journey down the River Nile to get to the pharaohs tomb. On the way they were able to explore water and sand, and also met some new animals such as camels and snakes.

After the story, pupils were able to work together to make their own mummies using toilet roll and a toy of their choice. Following this, pupils had a visit to the Hancock museum where they visited an Egyptian Exhibit.

As part of the topic lesson, Class 1 went to the beach to create pyramids in the sand and explore the water. All students loved this visit and enjoyed exploring and playing with their peers.
