Thornbeck College is an Independent Specialist College providing personalised programmes to autistic and neurodivergent individuals


Working together to inspire, support, celebrate and equip autistic and neurodivergent people to fulfil their potential in life.

As the term draws to a close, learners at Thornbeck College have enthusiastically engaged in a range of activities as part of their Christmas celebrations. These diverse initiatives have not only fostered a spirit of joy but have also facilitated skill development and community integration among our learners.

Some of the activities included:

  • Accessing the community to purchase the college Christmas tree
  • Making a range if handmade Christmas tree decorations
  • Visited a local residential home and community facility to deliver a donation of a handmade Christmas card and biscuits for the residents and staff
  • Made a range of handmade products to prepare for the college annual Christmas market
  • Submitted Christmas card designs as part of an external Christmas card competition
  • Accessed the community to purchase Christmas lunch items
  • Worked in the kitchen to prepare and serve Christmas lunch
  • Decorated the college windows as part of a college competition
  • Facilitated a Christmas market for parents/carers

Through these varied activities, learners received invaluable support in honing their functional and independent living skills. Moreover, these initiatives have greatly encouraged community inclusion, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie among our learners.

At Thornbeck College, the Christmas season has not just been about celebration, but an enriching journey of skill-building and community engagement.
