Thornbeck College

Thornbeck College is an Independent Specialist College providing personalised programmes to autistic and neurodivergent individuals

Working together to inspire, support, celebrate and equip autistic and neurodivergent people to fulfil their potential in life.

Before beginning his programme at Thornbeck College, Callum displayed high levels of anxiety resulting in him being unable to fully engage in his curriculum.

Callum has made significant progress at Thornbeck and accesses a varied curriculum including contributing to his local community.

He has identified catering as a future career aspiration and currently accesses Thornbeck’s catering kitchen on a weekly basis to prepare break and lunch items for all learners and staff.

Callum has now enrolled on his level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification. Following the completion of the qualification he will commence a weekly work experience in the kitchen at New Warlands Farm, a vocational training centre in County Durham run by the North East Autism Society.

This will support him to transfer the appropriate knowledge and skills into an external environment in line with his end goal and planned destination.
