The theme for this year was “Colour”. Learners participated in a range of activities to mark the event including: · A carousel of sensory activities for learners to explore a variety of senses in order to identify preferences. · Creating a collage of hand and footprints. Learners selected a colour to represent them to add their print to the collage. · Drawing a self-portrait to represent how learners see themselves. · Creating artwork on the theme “what autism means to me”. Learners created posters, drawings and poems to express the one thing they would want to tell people about their autism. Participating in this event has helped learners to express themselves, develop their self-awareness and self-confidence. Additionally, it has allowed learners to develop their communication, social skills and ability to express their needs and preferences in relation to sensory input. Manage Cookie Preferences
