Thornhill Park School

Thornhill Park School is an independent specialist school based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear for pupils aged 4-19

Our mission is to work together inspiring, supporting, celebrating and equipping autistic and neurodiverse children, young people and adults.

Learners in Phase 1 have been learning about houses and homes in their Topic lessons. They have been exploring the different types of homes people live in today, learning key vocabulary and identifying features.

Learners have been investigating the similarities and differences between different types of homes by exploring the local community .

In relation to homes, learners have also been researching and identifying common household pets, describing their features and looking at their different needs. Learners were then able to compare common pets with different outdoor animals by exploring wildlife in the school grounds and taking part in a bug hunt.

Learners have enjoyed taking part in role play activities and investigating what they need in their own house.

For the fabulous finish for this half terms Topic, learners will be designing and creating their own house using various resources and evaluating their own and their peers designs.
