We understand that organising a fundraising event may be a little daunting if you’ve never done it before, but please be assured that we will do our best to provide you with as much support as you need.

Below are some suggestions about how best to plan your event. If you’re keen to raise money for the North East Autism Society but aren’t sure how, why not take a look at our list of fundraising ideas?

Planning your event

Keep it simple. A good event needn’t be complicated; ask your friends and family to help you with the planning and organisation.

Promote your event

Promoting and publicising your event can have a huge impact on the amount of funds you raise. For information about our official promotional materials, please see the Resources for fundraisers section below.

Collecting money

We recommend that you collect your sponsorship money through a JustGiving page which takes only a few minutes to set up, and allows your sponsors to donate, and Gift Aid their donations, very simply. If you would like help setting up a JustGiving page for your event, please contact our Events Fundraiser.

If you decide to use sponsorship forms, we ask that you only use official North East Autism Society Charity forms. Don’t forget to advise your sponsors about Gift Aid – we can benefit from an extra 25p from every £1 donation if the donor is a UK taxpayer. If you plan on using collection buckets, please see below.

You can also pay in money raised from an event through the various ways below:

  1. You can either send us a cheque made payable to the North East Autism Society.
  2. Donate on our website. N.B If you are donating on our website please put your name and the event it is regarding as a reference.
  3. Donate over the phone.

Have a clear plan

Draw up a timetable, and stick to it! Be sure to carefully schedule dates and times, and check that the date of your event doesn’t clash with any other major events.

Set yourself a budget

Estimate your expenditure and your income, and draw up a list of equipment and catering needs. Don’t forget that suppliers often donate goods, or offer a discount, for charitable events – some may even be willing to sponsor your event.

Health and safety

As the event organiser you’ll be responsible for the health and safety of those attending - but don’t let this worry you! A risk assessment is quick and easy to do.

A note about posters

If you are making your own posters, please make it clear that you are fundraising in aid of the North East Autism Society and that you do not represent the Charity.

If you use the North East Autism Society logo in any publicity materials we ask that you send a draft to [email protected] before publication.
