The North East Autism Society has benefited from £5,000 raised at the North Eastern Region of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) Annual Spring Ball.

John Thompson of Thompsons of Prudhoe Ltd, who is Chairman for the North Eastern Region, hosted the Ball. Funds raised from the evening will equip a new sensory room at the charities Thornhill Park School that is based in Sunderland. Kevin Durkin, Physiotherapist at North East Autism Society said; “It’s very important that Therapists and Teachers have the right tools and equipment utilising all the latest technologies to enable us to support and enhance the young student’s lives.”

Over 150 guests attended, the Spring Ball that took place in March this year at the De Vere Oulton Hall Hotel in Leeds. The North Eastern Region of the NFDC has raised over £60k in the past four years and all profits are donated to local charities.

John Thompson said: “The NFDC has been overwhelmed by the generosity of our members, guests and sponsors for supporting this years Ball. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet the students at Thornhill Park School and witness first hand the difference the new sensory room will make for these youngsters.” 

John Thompson visited the students at The North East Autism Society –Thornhill Park School, where he presented a cheque on behalf of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors. 

The new sensory room at Thornhill Park School cost £13,000 and was also made possible from The Lord Taverners, ACT Foundation and WA Handley Trust.
