Only one day to go until we turn the skies of the North-east gold for Autism Acceptance Week.

And we need you to join in.

Due to coronavirus restrictions a few of our landmarks can no longer join in BUT we know with our army of supporters we can still turn our region gold.

There are several ways you can join in:

  • If you live near to Newcastle Civic Centre, Penshaw Monument, the Northern Spire Bridge, Middlesbrough Town Hall fountains, Seaburn Lighthouse or Gateshead Millennium Bridge – take a pic of these landmarks bathed in gold light, during your daily exercise slot.

  • Between 7 and 8pm you can switch all your lights on at home and take a picture of your house! Even better – if your street can join in, send us those pics too. You can be isolating – but joining forces for Autism Acceptance.

  • Or you could get super creative… dig out those Christmas tree lights, fill your house with light – even use those Chinese Lanterns hiding in the back of your cupboards!

Thanks to Michael Lewis of Breakout Media, who sponsored the illumination of the Millennium Bridge, and to everyone already committed to joining us for this celebration.

Michael said: “Several of my friends are autistic and this was just a really good way of me showing my support and acceptance, for a great North-east charity.”

Last year a dad wrote also to us to say, “tonight when children look out of their windows they’ll see gold and know that they live in the best place in the world – a place where they are completely accepted.”

And you can make this happen again.
