There are so many ways to get involved this year from requesting a Going for Gold pack full of ideas and activities to raise awareness, promote acceptance and to raise funds for vital services, to signing up your school or business to join in as well.

Whether it’s a bake sale with gold-topped cakes, a sky-dive in a gold suit or a decision to dig out the Christmas lights so your home is a bright-lit example of gold throughout the week, the possibilities, like our new infinity loop ribbon, are endless!

If you work for one of the region’s local authorities you can raise Going for Gold with them. Everything from buildings being illuminated in a golden yellow to art projects, awareness days and staff training can all form part of this year’s Autism Acceptance drive.

You could buy our innovative new gold infinity ribbon. The symbol of neurodiversity, it’s the country’s first awareness ribbon in this new shape so it’s a real talking point -and won’t be mistaken for any other cause because no other organisation has developed the unique figure of eight infinity loop as a ribbon.

Register and take part in our Walk for Autism. This year we are hoping to see more than 500 people take to Herrington Country Park for our gold-themed event. At only £5 per adult and under-18s going free it’s a great day out and will let our region know that this is something we need to pay attention to. You can also raise sponsorship for this event or even take part in our Toddle for Autism, within the same event.

Share our stories and videos on social media. If we really want autism and neurodiversity to be accepted and not just something people are aware of, then we need to get the word out. During our Autism Acceptance Week campaign we’ll be busting myths, providing information, sharing inspirational posts and so much more. Share, share, share!
