For over 38 years, the North East Autism Society has been a beacon of light for autistic people and their families.

In 2019, we are helping Autistic UK to campaign for iconic buildings and landmarks across the UK to 'light up GOLD' in support of autism awareness and acceptance. We want to take inspiration from the colour that every walk of life strives for ... GOLD.

In celebration of the campaign we will be holding a competition for schools, every school that joins in and raises funds for NEAS will be entered into a draw to be crowned GOLD! The winning school will receive a workshop delivered by our ambassadors, author Peter Barron and illustrator Jonathan Raiseborough.

Jonathan has recently appeared on ITV's This Time Next Year. As part of the show, they charted the progress of him hoping to become an illustrator to him working with Peter Barron and the North East Autism Society to make his dreams come true through Snowdrop the Spikeshuffler!

As part of the prize, the students will receive an illustration lesson from Jonathan, and a creative writing workshop from Peter.

Our Snowdrop mascot will also visit the school delivering signed copies of the book!
