Our children's short break service is more than just a lifeline for families across the North East - it's a looked-forward-to destination for everyone who stays with us.

Covering everything from after school support, holiday clubs and weekend activities to overnight and even extended holidays in our children’s centre, we provide bespoke support for children and young people across the North East of England. 

A chance to have a break, both for the parents and carers and for the young people themselves – we offer a safe environment to have fun, make friends, learn new skills and develop independence.

I can’t thank short breaks enough for what they do for my family...  They’re like an extension of our family and we are so grateful.

Our Site

Acorn House, Children’s Short Breaks features:

• Two lounge areas; an entertainment area and a quiet reading area 

• Art room

• Play room

• Computer suite

• Sensory room

• Spacious communal dining area, and a flexible dining area in the kitchen

• Laundry facilities

• Locker area to store valuables 

• Medical dispensing room 

• Staff sleep-in room and office facilities

Based at our North East Centre for Autism in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. We can provide overnight breaks and day care provision for autistic and/or neurodivergent children and young people aged 5-18.
