Our Autism Acceptance Award is split into three phases (bronze, silver and gold) and places a focus on four key areas within an organisation: knowledge and understanding, changes to practice, environmental adjustments and collaboration.

We tailor the awards process to the individual circumstances and needs of each business and will discuss the required steps with you upon signing up. However some examples of key eligibility criteria for each stage are outlined below.

Bronze

  • Key staff in the organisation have completed a one-hour autism awareness session
  • The organisation has started to consider ways in which they can gain insight and connect with the autistic community
  • The organisation has started to consider their overall environment in relation to making it better for autistic people
  • The organisation is working towards delivering some form of inclusive activity
  • The organisation has identified designated autism leads that can drive forward positive societal and cultural change

Silver

  • Key staff in the organisation have completed a three-hour autism training course
  • The organisation has started to connect with the autistic community
  • Environmental audit has been carried out across the organisation
  • The organisation has implemented some form of inclusive activity
  • Designated autism lead is in post  

Gold

  • Designated autism champions have attended three-hour “champions work-shop” session
  • The organisation is connecting with the autistic community as part of their everyday practice
  • The organisation has considered the recommendations suggested in the environmental audit, implemented changes where possible and reviewed those changes
  • Inclusive activity is consistently embedded in the organisations programme of activity
  • The organisation is committed to sharing good practice across other communities and educating society
