Winner announced for World Autism Acceptance Month art competition
The winners of the North East Autism Society’s inaugural World Autism Acceptance Month art competition have been announced.
To celebrate World Autism Acceptance Week, the North East Autism Society is taking part in the Autism Alliance UK’s ‘what autism acceptance means to me’ campaign.
The powerful campaign, which encourages people to share what autism acceptance means to them, is led by the Autism Alliance UK, the national body for specialist not-for-profit organisations that support autistic people and their families.
From March 30th to April 6th, and throughout World Autism Acceptance Month, NEAS will be sharing stories and messages from autistic individuals, and the families and staff members that support them.
The aim of the campaign is to highlight the continued challenges faced by autistic people in society, challenge misconceptions, and explore how acceptance can, and does, change lives.
It also reinforces the importance of acceptance in improving outcomes, with many of the reasonable adjustments needed to support autistic people being highly effective and easy to implement.
