Pupils from Aycliffe School at the North East Centre for Autism, Newton Aycliffe had a fantastic weekend as they were presented with gold and silver awards at the Apollo Tampolining Competition. 

Andy Leach, Senior Trampoline Coach at the club organises trampolining lessons at the school twice a week and launched the first competition for children and young people with special needs in December 2014. The competitions were set-up to assess whether young people can cope with a competition environment and hopefully lead to pupils taking part in regional and national events. Trampolining has numerous health benefits and the competitions encourage the pupils to engage in sport. 

Trampolining has proven to have a positive impact on the pupils, it is a highly sensory activity that provides a lot of stimulation and sensory feedback. The sessions help young people with autism to control their anxiety and to relieve the build-up of stress. 




We have secured further funding from the Ashburn Charitable Trust to carry on our Trampolining Lessons. The sessions are held on a Saturday (twice a month) 10am - 12noon at North East Centre for Autism (Sports Hall), Cedar Drive, Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, DL5 6UN

The sessions are FREE and open to children, young people and adults with special needs.
