Ambitious North East Autism Society development enters phase two
Part of our ongoing Growing Futures appeal, the second phase of development will see several new buildings erected – including a cider mill, a farm shop, and a café.
Fundraising team pioneers mobile giving technology
In a regional first, and one of only a few charities to do so in the UK – the Society is trialling contactless fundraising badges, allowing the community, friends and family to make a donation with the sweep of a hand.
Staff are the first to wear the badges, which enable people to donate to the Going for Gold campaign through NFC chip. It was stated in the Barclays report ‘The Future of Giving’, that our donation habits are changing in “an increasingly cashless society” with twice as many charity donors now seeing contactless solutions as a good idea.
Users of the latest Apple iPhone (X/XS) can simply tap the ‘infinity loop’, or for older iPhone users the QR code provided will work. Alternatively for iPhones 7 and above, search for and download the ‘Tap and Scan NFC’ app in the App Store. Android phone users just need to enable NFC (Near-Field-Communication) in settings and tap to give.

People interested in donating this way can do so at our upcoming ‘Walk for Autism’ on April 12th at Herrington County Park, Sunderland.
Volunteers from BGL Group will be wearing the contactless badges at the walk for anyone wanting to donate this way. BGL will also be matching any money raised through digital giving.
