Senior Management Team
Paul McGinnety - Chief Executive Officer
Paul became CEO of NEAS in 2026 following a distinguished career working across local authorities and government, tackling poverty and supporting vulnerable people.
Jess Greer - Chief Operating Officer
Jess joined the organisation in 2010 as the CEO’s PA, quickly expanding her responsibilities to include project management for new site developments. In 2023, she transitioned into the role of Head of HR, taking on leadership of learning and development, recruitment, and IT. In 2026, Jess stepped into a more strategic position, supporting the CEO as Chief Operating Officer with oversight of Education and Central Services.
Derek Groves - Chief Operating Officer
Derek joined NEAS in 2015 as Social Enterprise Manager, later leading Employment Futures as Employment Services Manager. In 2026 he became Chief Operating Officer supporting Care and Community Services.
Brian Stoker - Head of Care
Brian served in the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards before joining children’s residential services at NEAS. He helped build up adult residential services and was a residential home manager before becoming head of care.
Tracey Train - Director of Education
Tracey joined the society in 2017 as Learning and Development Manager before moving into education in school leadership roles. She has many years of experience working in education prior to joining NEAS and has supported the development of new schools within the society. As Director of Education, Tracey now oversees the leadership and strategic development of four schools and a college, ensuring high-quality provision and positive outcomes for all learners.
Education Leadership Team
Corrina McEwan - Principal of Mackenzie Thorpe Centre
Corrina began her education career in 2010 and has built a strong record of teaching English across diverse educational settings. Her focus on high‑quality teaching, staff development, and improved learner outcomes supported her progression through senior roles including Head of English and Humanities, Programme Area Lead, Vice Principal, and now Principal. Her leadership centres on raising standards, strengthening professional practice, and driving whole‑school improvement.
Tracey Clements - Principal of Aycliffe School
Tracey has worked in education since 2001, building extensive experience across early years, primary, further and higher education. She began her career in EYFS in a specialist role before becoming a SENCo in a primary school, later moving into FE and HE to develop and deliver high‑quality SEND provision.
She has a strong, well‑rounded understanding of SEND and has provided support, guidance and training across both FE and HE settings. Tracey is deeply committed to inclusive education and ensuring every learner receives the support they need to thrive.
Sean Davies - Principal of Kiora Hall
Sean began his career in education in 2011 and has spent the past decade in senior leadership, serving as both Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher. With a background in Sport Psychology and Education, he brings strong academic insight to his work, and Sean combines academic insight with practical leadership experience to create thriving learning environments. His leadership is defined by a clear focus on positive outcomes for students, staff, and the wider school community.
Fay Strong - Principal of Thornbeck College
Fay joined Thornbeck as a Learning Support Assistant in 2009, progressing to FE Tutor and Quality Manager before becoming Principal of the college in 2022.
Helen Mitchell - Principal of Thornhill Park School
Helen started her educational career in 2003, teaching students with special educational needs and autism in a land-based setting in Durham. She progressed to programme area lead for foundation learning and a specific autism provision before moving into learning and development at NEAS and then undertook the role as Quality Manager at Aycliffe School. After five years working for a local authority, she has taken up the role of Principal of Thornhill Park School.
Care Leadership Team
Christine Richmond - Ops Manager (ISL)
Christine started her NEAS career as a support worker in 2004. She progressed to a senior, assistant manager and registered manager before taking up her current position in supported living.
Peter Mountain - Ops Manager (Adult Residential)
Peter began as an instructor at Thornbeck College in 1997 before moving into care. He built up our supported living service and adult short breaks before taking up his new role.
Jackie Herbison - Ops Manager (Adult Residential)
Jackie has worked for NEAS for more than 20 years and has managed a number of residential homes in Sunderland, as well as developing the supported living service in Newcastle and Durham.
Marjorie Clifford - Ops Manager (Children's Residential)
Marjorie previously worked with adults with the CQC before joining NEAS in 2009 as a children’s residential manager, first at No. 21 when it was a children’s home and then Cedar House in Aycliffe.
Cath Blair - Ops Manager (Family Support/Short Breaks)
Cath worked as a residential manager for Darlington Council and in a residential school before joining NEAS in 2013. She has a Diploma in Management, NVQ Assessors Award and a BSc (Hons) degree in social work.
Adult Day Services Managers
Grainger Simpson - Operations Manager
Grainger joined us as a Programme Support Worker in 2004, and has worked in a variety of roles including Operations Manager of Adult Day Services and Positive Proactive Support lead.
Nicole Dowell - Ops Manager (Adult Day Services)
Nicole followed her mum’s footsteps into working at NEAS when she joined as a Programme Support Worker. She became Programme Manager at No.24 and now runs our Adult Day Services.
Central Services Managers
Valerie Bowden - Head of Finance
Valerie is a chartered certified accountant who joined NEAS in 2022 after years of experience of running company and charity finances. She says her job is to ensure the Society can provide its services to users.
Kerrie Highcock - Family Development Manager
Kerrie develops and manages services for families across the region, and leads on our Autism Acceptance Award. She is currently completing her doctorate in education, specialising in autism.
John Facchini - Employment Manager
Having over 20 years’ experience of working within employment services, John joined the Employment Futures department in 2017 as an Employer Engagement Officer. He is now Employment Services Manager for the department, leading a team of 20 staff across the North East.
Bob Richardson - Health and Safety Manager
Bob has worked at NEAS for 22 years. He first joined as our Maintenance Manager, building up his team, and is now the charity’s Health & Safety Manager.
Lisa Taylor - Marketing Manager
Lisa joined NEAS in 2010 as Marketing Officer and played a key role in building the charity’s fundraising and marketing teams. She became Marketing Manager in 2018 and now leads her team in raising awareness of NEAS’s mission and championing greater acceptance for autistic people and their families through impactful campaigns.
Kevin Meikle - Fundraising Manager
Kevin joined NEAS in 2015 from an arts and cultural management background. He oversees all voluntary income generation for the charity and writes bids for competitive contracts for services.
