About you
Even if you haven't served on a governance board before, you could be the kind of person we're looking for to help shape New Warlands Farm.
It’s an exciting time for the North East Autism Society as we work on our biggest project yet.
We’re transforming New Warlands Farm in County Durham into a rural enterprise hub which will train and employ autistic people to work in horticulture and hospitality.
Just three-in-10 autistic people are in work, and we want to do our bit to change that. Through our Employment Futures service, we support people across the region to find work that is right for them. But some people need longer term support.
At New Warlands Farm they’ll have the chance to train and work in our café, cider mill, farm shop, or grow produce on the farm itself.
Now we are looking for new Board Members to help us realise this ambitious plan, to support neurodivergent young people and adults to reach their potential, and shape the future of New Warlands Farm.
"It is life-affirming to see the children and young people that the North East Autism Society has helped realise their potential" – Dr Rakesh Chopra, OBE, Chair of NEAS
Board Members play a hugely important role at New Warlands Farm Enterprise, taking responsibility for governance and leading on our values and strategic direction.
If you share our vision for a sustainable farm, supporting community wellbeing as well as employment opportunities for autistic people, and want to use your skills, contacts, and background to help us change lives, we would love to hear from you.
This is a voluntary position, for which reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
