As part of Youth Skills Day, learners took part in Thornbeck’s Dragon’s Den, an enterprise challenge that encouraged learners to develop their creativity, communication and teamwork skills.

Student Council elections
Thornbeck College has elected its new student council for this academic year. Â
The student council have many responsibilities including representing their peers to support the college to develop and act on their views and ideas. They may also be responsible for identifying ways that college can celebrate a range of events.
Learners have prepared for elections by:
- Identifying what the student council involves
- Identifying their own strengths
- Created campaign posters explaining why they would be good for the role
- Voted for candidates based on their qualities and suitability for the role
Participating in the student election has provided learners with knowledge of living in a democratic society, thus promoting British Values. Learners will use a range of skills which will include functional English, teamwork and communication.
