Youth Skills Day
As part of Youth Skills Day, learners took part in Thornbeck’s Dragon’s Den, an enterprise challenge that encouraged learners to develop their creativity, communication and teamwork skills.

Parent/carer event
Thornbeck learners planned and facilitated a parent/carer coffee afternoon and market.
Learners participated in a range of tasks and activities including:
- Making a range of handmade products across the curriculum
- Making posters to advertise the event
- Following recipes to prepare a range of cakes/biscuits to be sold at the event
- Greeting visitors
- Working on the product stalls
- Serving customers
- Working in the kitchen making and serving a range of hot/cold drinks and snacks
The market provided parents/carers with the opportunity to visit the college, meet with their son/daughter’s key tutor, purchase a range of products made by the learners, socialise with and support one another as parents/carers and provide the college with feedback.
The afternoon was a great success!
