National Hate Crime Awareness Week

During the final week of half term, learners participated in a series of activities to commemorate National Hate Crime Awareness Week. In alignment with the Hate Crime Awareness organisation’s initiative, the National Candle of Hope and Remembrance was lit in solidarity with individuals affected by disability hate crime.

To show their support, each learner designed and decorated their own candle to take home and light as a personal gesture of unity. In addition, a collective college candle was created for display in the Administration Office, featuring the names of learners.

This initiative promoted community inclusion by encouraging learners to actively engage in a national event, while also enhancing their understanding of equality, diversity, and acceptance. The activity served as a meaningful opportunity for reflection and reinforced the college’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful learning environment.
