Welcome to the North East Centre for Autism – Aycliffe School.

"I am so very proud of our learners and staff who, together, ensure that Aycliffe School is a very special and exciting place for us all to be."

The school offers a broad and balanced responsive curriculum, designed to meet the assessed needs and abilities of all our pupils. The curriculum is designed to increase meaningful outcomes for pupils, needed for the next stage of their education and into adulthood. We’ve created an environment for everyone to feel safe and appreciated for their individual contributions.

I believe we have a responsibility to ensure our learners are equipped with confidence and skills to live their lives safely and successfully and to go on to take their place within the local community and beyond. I have the highest expectations and aspirations for each of our children and young people. The school has implemented a person-centred approach which has a sound track record of addressing pupils’ needs and issues.  This approach addresses any barriers through holistic approaches, involving a range of specialist staff and other support agencies. Multi-disciplinary assessment procedures, further supported by key staff, provide pupils and their families with continuity to help build positive and trusting relationships.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you require further information, to organise a visit or to book in on our next open day.
