Youth Skills Day
As part of Youth Skills Day, learners took part in Thornbeck’s Dragon’s Den, an enterprise challenge that encouraged learners to develop their creativity, communication and teamwork skills.

Welcome back to our learners
Thornbeck College welcomed new and returning learners back for the start of a new academic year. Learners took part in a range of activities as part of their induction in the college, including:
- A tour of the college buildings
- An introduction to their key tutor
- An introduction to the curriculum areas
- Increasing their understanding of the Preparing for Adulthood framework and how this links to the curriculum at Thornbeck as part of their Tutorials
- Health and safety activities including the fire evacuation procedure and assembly point
- Compiling a new student charter to identify what is expected of both learners and staff at college
- Developing their understanding of democracy in relation to the student council. Staff supported learners to understand the roles within the student council and then learners created an election poster to nominate themselves as candidates for those roles
