Shopping in the community

A Chestnut learner from Kiora Hall enjoyed walking to a local supermarket to buy cooking ingredients to make her own lunch this week.

Before leaving school, she looked online, chose what she wanted to make and identified the ingredients she would need to buy.

While walking she used her road safety skills and guided staff to the supermarket, talking about how to safely cross at the traffic lights.

In Tesco, the learner pushed her own trolly and chose the items that she needed before going to the till,  using her communication skills to interact with the cashier. She then enjoyed a treat in Tesco café to make sure she had enough energy for the walk back to school.
