On 11th February, learners from Thornbeck College attended a National Apprenticeships and Education Event in Newcastle, in order to gain further information in regards to available apprenticeships courses in areas of interest and in relation to potential future career aspirations.
The event brought together Top UK Employers, Universities, Colleges & Training Providers and encouraged college students and young adults to find out more about apprenticeships at all levels as well as the educational pathways available to them, providing an important opportunity for face-to-face conversations in an interactive setting.
Learners identified areas of interest, such as a potential future career connected to Landscaping and Gardening, as expressed by one of our learners in line with their experience of our Horticulture program. They were then supported to identify a relevant course and to discuss this further with exhibitors at the event.
This opportunity allowed learners to gain valuable information in regards to the qualifications or access courses they would need in order to progress onto their preferred apprenticeships course as well as the career opportunities that would be available to them following completion of the relevant courses. Attending the event provided invaluable insight into the pathways available to our learners in line with their future aspirations.
