Birch Class Boys Visit Hope Town to Explore Trains and Independent Living Skills

As part of their Independent Living curriculum, a group of boys from Birch Class recently visited Hope Town for a hands-on learning experience about trains and public transport.

The visit gave the learners a chance to explore trains as an alternative and sustainable form of travel. During the trip, they learned fascinating facts about the history of railways, including how some of the older trains differ from the modern ones we see today. The boys were particularly amazed by the size, design, and technology of the historic trains on display, and enjoyed seeing how much things have changed over time.

The trip was not only educational but also a fun and engaging way to build confidence in using public transport—an important life skill as part of the Independent Living programme.

Next week, the group is planning to put their knowledge into action by catching a train to Saltburn, where they’ll enjoy a well-deserved ice cream by the sea. Everyone is looking forward to the journey!
