Sun class learn about space with experiments and crafts

Throughout the next term, Sun class will be exploring the features of the wider solar system beyond our own planet Earth. This week we initiated a little experiment to better understand forces and decided to test out gravity!

The pupils of sun class chose two objects from a given list and held them at the same height above the ground. Then, at the count of three, they let go of both objects and allowed them to fall simultaneously. After seeing which objects fell first, the pupils noted their answers down and found that, usually, the heavier objects were affected by gravity most.

What a wonderful little experiment that Sun class enjoyed performing as a way of visually perceiving the impact of gravity and understanding how learning in Science lessons can be fun and creative.

Sun class has also been demonstrating their learning throughout their art lessons as they have taken topics from other subjects and implemented them into their weekly craft workshops.

While learning about space, Sun class decided to have a little fun with art supplies and make their own aliens.

After designing their own unique aliens on a sheet of paper, Sun class used air drying clay to model their extra-terrestrial monsters. They then used paints, glitter and fluffy pipe cleaners to add vibrant colours and quirky features to their aliens.
