Thornbeck College

Anti-Bullying Week

Anti-Bullying Week 2025 took place from Monday, November 10th to Friday, November 14th, with the theme “Power for Good,” coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA)  encouraging everyone to use their influence to speak out, support others, and build kindness. To mark the event learners participated in a range of activities including:

  • Odd socks day
  • Designing and contributing to a Tree of ‘Change’ Learners identified what they would change about the world if they could and placed their thoughts as leaves on the tree. The tree and leaves were created in Social Enterprise and Woodwork.
  • Power Paint Board – Learners were invited to write the negative words they associate with bullying on a blank canvas and threw colourful sponges of paint to cover the words.
  • Anti-Bullying poster competition

Through their participation, learners developed a greater understanding of how their words and actions could positively influence others and contribute to a safe and respectful environment. The activities supported learners to recognise bullying behaviours, understand the importance of using their personal power in positive ways, and identify appropriate strategies for seeking help and supporting peers. As a result, learners showed increased confidence in expressing their feelings, demonstrating kindness, and making positive choices, helping to strengthen a more inclusive, supportive, and respectful college community.
