Sixth form trip to Vindolanda

On the 5th of January we had a class visit to Vindolanda.

We left at 9.40am on the school minibus, the journey took 1 hour.
Vindolanda is in Hexham which is north of Newcastle. It is a Roman museum and fort. The Romans settled in Vindolanda in 85CE.
We went to Vindolanda for a cultural visit, as part of our curriculum for cultural capital. Some of the things we saw were:

  • Settlement
  • Stone stairs
  • Wooden stairs
  • Ruins of a fort
  • Shop
  • Museum
  • Interactive model of the site
  • Statues of Caesar
  • Temple

I learned about Roman history and how they lived. I enjoyed every bit of the visit.
