A proper muddy obstacle course for the whole family to enjoy!

Experience the only family fun (and muddy!) obstacle course in the North East.

The event takes place at Hedley West Farm, located just North of Beamish museum, close to Newcastle upon Tyne and Durham.

We have charity places available for this event for the discounted price of £10 per person.

When you sign up with NEAS, you'll receive a code that you can use on the Challenge Northumberland website to select the date and start time of your choice. Clarty Bairns runs every Saturday and Sunday between 16th July and 14th August, plus two Friday sessions on 5th and 12th August.

There's no fundraising target but we do encourage participants to raise sponsorship to help us continue the lifeline services we provide to autistic people and their families across the North East. You can click here to create a JustGiving page or email [email protected] to request a sponsorship form.

What is Clarty Bairns?

Clarty Bairns is organised by Challenge Northumberland. It's a mini muddy obstacle course suitable for bairns and big kids! If you want to have fun with all the family doing something a little different together then give this challenge a go.

What's involved?

The obstacle course involves climbing, crawling, scrambling, getting wet and, of course, getting MUDDY!

If you're keen on families getting fit and healthy together, then this is the event for you! It's a fun fitness event where families tackle challenges together. The goal is to provide a foundation for families to get healthier and stronger, build confidence, create happy memories and stronger family relationships that last a lifetime.

The obstacle course is suitable for bairns and big kids aged 6-80. Under 17's must be accompanied by an adult, so please add adult place(s) when registering. One adult can look after up to three children.

If you want to have fun and get your heart pumping with the whole family, you'll find our obstacle course will fit the bill perfectly! It's challenging but quite achievable. It's not a race. The emphasis is on finishing rather than speed, so you don't need to be a super competitive gym junkie to take part.
