Cummins workplace visit

Learners from Thornbeck College attended an experiential visit at Cummins for a site tour of the plant which includes engines made for trains, boats and other large vehicles. Learners increased their knowledge on creating cleaner emissions and the wide range of employment options available through Cummins. Students completed a workshop with an engineer about the process of building a battery powered F24 car provided by Green Energy.

Cummins has a commitment to diversity, equaliity and inclusion and this visit has given learners the opportunity to:

• Discover a wide range of career paths for young adults in STEM
• Experience new electronic technology and how it is used in the workplace
• Information on emissions and sustainability
• Access to a workshop facilitated by an engineer from the plant and an introduction to building battery powered vehicle

This visit has allowed learners to gather information on future employment opportunities and expectations, as well as develop knowledge around working in a STEM environment.
