Star Class – New School Year
Star Class have made a fantastic start to the new school year, settling back into their routines and enjoying lots of exciting activities.
As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, the events team at Thornhill Park School set up a mental health hub with an activity room and a sensory room. Pupils have been able to drop in and participate in activities of their choosing throughout the week.
The main focus has been to encourage the pupils to express their feelings, and activities have included colouring in, jigsaws, books to read and games to play as well as lights and music for relaxation in the sensory room.
The pupils have been able to spend time with peers and staff playing games, interacting with each other, building relationships and securing trust. The week’s activities ended with an express yourself day where everyone was encouraged to wear bright colours or anything that they feel comfortable in as well as a film afternoon watching Inside Out with a popcorn treat.
