Aycliffe School remains open, within school pupils continue to follow our personalised curriculum. For pupils who are opting to stay at home and receive remote education we have implemented systems to ensure all pupils are receiving their full education
This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.
For details of what to expect where individual pupils are self-isolating, please see the final section this table.
A pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach, while we take all necessary actions to prepare for a longer period of remote teaching.
In school we have work packs prepared at all times that contain work to cover a period of up to two weeks, this work is based on their individual targets within their Individual Education Plan. This will consist of work that learners can access immediately, any resources required will be included. Within the first couple of days you will be contacted by the class teacher or a member of staff from within the school and the individual learning plan will be put in to place.
We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate. Our pupils will continue to have personalised learning plans based on our curriculum and their individual targets. The content of the individual lesson may need to be adapted so this can be delivered at home, this is due to the practical nature of sessions.
For example, employability sessions may need to be adapted where practical equipment or tools would be needed.
How long can I expect work set by the school to take my child each day?
The government have set out expectations that they expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils broadly the amount of time they would work within their usual school day.
We are aware that for learners with SEND we may need to be adaptable to suit our pupils individual needs. Details of expected learning time will be included in pupils individual learning plan. The learning plan will be completed in conjunction with families and pupils. Therapy input and movement sessions would be factored into our days to support to meet learners sensory needs
