When will I be paid? Expand You will be paid in arrears by BACS on the 28th day of each month directly into your bank account.
Do I need a DBS check? Expand Yes. We conduct enhanced DBS checks on all of our staff regardless of which service you work in. This is paid for by the Society. If you leave you will need to cover this cost.
Will my references be contacted prior to interview? Expand Yes if you are applying for a position in our education services. We will not contact before interview for any other position.
How will the interview be conducted? Expand Due to the coronavirus pandemic, some of our interviews are being conducted via Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Some interviews will be conducted face to face.
Will I have the opportunity to progress? Expand Absolutely! We pride ourselves on retaining and nurturing the talents of our employees. Many of our current employees have worked their way up the ranks - be it from teaching assistant to school principal, or support worker to managing one of our residential homes. In fact, our Director of Education Chris Dempster joined the Society as a classroom assistant in 1990.
Do I need experience or qualifications? Expand This is dependant on the role you are applying for. Please check the person specification of the role you are applying for. For many of our vacancies, past experience and qualifications aren't essential. We care about employing the right people and pride ourselves on our comprehensive training programmes. Many of our employees come from very different backgrounds!
What are the working hours? Expand Your working hours will be dependant on your role. If you work in our central or education services in a full time role, you will work 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:30 - 4:30. Our care services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you will be expected to do shift work. If you work part time you may work between 16 - 30 hours per week, with the option of working overtime.
