Everyone’s favourite fictional characters came to life during World Book Day at Aycliffe School yesterday.

Young bookworms and staff marked the global celebration of reading with a day of literary fun.

Pupils let their imaginations run wild as they dressed up as their storybook heroes. Pupils chose a book to read and carried out a review of the book. This event promoted literacy and communication skills, and promoted a whole school community spirit.

Now in its 19th year, World Book Day celebrates authors, illustrators, books and reading in the biggest celebration of its kind, marked in 100 countries.
