Virtual Walk for Autism Acceptance

The safety of our supporters, employees, and the people we aim to serve, is always at the forefront of our planning. This year it's looking likely that we will celebrate Autism Acceptance Week under some form of restrictions, amid the coronavirus pandemic....

But this won’t mean you miss out on the opportunity to partner with an amazing North-east charity and support our campaign as you 'Join us on the Road to Acceptance'.

We’re launching our first-ever virtual Walk for Autism Acceptance on Friday, 2nd April (as part of Autism Acceptance Week).

It may be different, but our message remains the same.

Now more than ever we need your support. Join us and help make a real difference.

How to sign up

To take part, it costs just £5 per adult and under-18s go free.

Your registration fee includes:

An activity booklet with fun ideas for your family to do on your walk
Entry into our draw to win a luxury Easter Hamper
A finishers certificate
Support materials to share on social media to let everyone know you're partnering with us!

How does it work

Register for our Walk
Set up a Just Giving page for your walk or ask your friends and family to make a donation here
Take part on Autism Acceptance Day 2nd April (or a day that suits you)
Fill in your activity booklet as you walk
Take some photos and videos of you out on your walk and share them on your own social media platforms and tag @NorthEastAutismSociety on Facebook, or @NEAutismSociety on Twitter and Instagram. Remember to use the hashtag #WalkforAutism

Getting Started

Once you have registered for our Walk for Autism Acceptance simply set up your very own JustGiving page to raise money for us.

Attached is an information sheet with more information about JustGiving and how to use the site. You can also download a sponsorship form for any offline fundraising.

Once your Walk for Autism Acceptance JustGiving page is all set up, share your page on social media to let your friends and followers know that you are supporting the North East Autism Society. Feel free to tag us @NEAutismSociety and use the hashtag #AutismAcceptance.

800,000 steps in 30 days = 26,666 steps a day

2. 400,000 Steps Challenge

400,000 steps in 30 days = 13,333 steps a day

200,000 steps in 40 days = 6,666 steps a day

What is Autism?

Autism is the word used to describe a lifelong difference in a person’s neurology. It’s very difficult to say exactly what ‘it’ is because it can’t be separated from the person.
What we do

We help remove barriers to support individuals with autism and learning difficulties into employment. This new service has been designed to support both the individual, and also the employer.
Child Residential Care

We design individual programmes for each child or young person who stays in one of our residences to ensure their specific needs are met. We offer weekly, termly and 52 week residential placements.
What We Believe

We provide a wide – and ever growing – range of services for autistic children, young people and adults, and those with other examples of neurodiversity.

Trampolining Sessions

Our FREE trampolining lessons are open to children, young people and adults with special needs.
